Exploring Shutter Speeds
1. Explain the three types of long exposures.
2. How does the use of a neutral density filter change the way the photograph looks? 3. What are the steps to shooting lightning? 4. How are star trails created? 5. How does Reciprocity Failure change the way the film reacts to light? |
1. Three types of long exposure are short exposures(which go from 1/20 of a second to several seconds), medium exposures(which go up to about a minute), and long exposures(which can be indefinitely long).
2. Using a neutral density filter will reduce the amount of light that goes into the camera, This makes sure that when shooting long exposures during the day, your picture isn't too bright. 3. When shooting lightning, set up your camera as if photographing any landscape, press the button on the cable release (anywhere between 5-10 minutes). 4. Star trails are created using a film camera because there is no battery that will die during the very long exposure,. 5. reciprocity failure means that when your camera is left open longer, the film doesn't react to the light consistently over time. |
